FC Alania Vladikavkaz returned to the Russian Premier League, after a one-year absence, following their 2-2 draw
against FC Ural on Sunday to clinch 2nd spot in the Russian First Division table.
Nizhny Novgorod who could have become a stumbling block in Alania’s progression if results had gone their way, finished 3rd after suffering a 3-1 defeat against FC Torpedo Moscow at Eduard Streltsoc stadium.
Champions Mordovia Saransk, who clinched the title last week, lost 1-0 against Dynamo Bryansk but finished at the top with 100 points from their 52 games. Alania, meanwhile, ended with 97 points.
While commenting on Alania’s performances, Tamas Priskin has hailed his side and admitted that the Vladikavkaz-based club deserved to secure an automatic Russian Championship promotion.
