Seeing as the entrance into the water is one of the most important aspects in a dive, I'd expect that being streamlined is still important, not just for speed, but to ensure a smooth, clean glide through the water?

It's just a matter of preference. Shaving does not have any effect on their diving. Some just prefer to be totally hairless, which is understandable when you're in a speedo, seen by millions across the world.
