Question:

I can voluntarily control the size of my pupil, CAN YOU?!?

i can voluntarily control the size of my pupil- it's hard to explain. i've tried to teach several of my friends to do it but they just shake their heads at me and look away HAHA

i kind of furrow my brow, and open my eye as much as i can without having it fall out ;} then i tense some sort of muscle which feels like it's either located on top of or behind my eyeball, and my pupil rapidly constricts. i can only do it with one eye.

my questions are:

1. do you know anyone who can do this? (i'm trying to get an idea, sort of ratio-wise? which i know under the given circumstances is probably extremely biased, but something's better than nothing, right?)

2. do you know of any studies behind this? (i've been googling for quite some time now and have still found nothing.)

3. could i potentially be damaging some part of my vision/eye in doing this?

and honestly, research or "finding out" whatever information doesn't mean the world to me, i'm just curious.

happy answering! :}

  1. I know that some people with split personalities can change their eye color with their change of personality.  That some abilities like twisting your tongue over are genetic but you have to ask medical people if you are hurting anything.  Can you twist your tongue over, I can.

  2. naturally, oopening your eyes wider would cause your pupils to shrink, they act in response to the ammount of light in the area, but if you can make them shrink signifigantly, thats pretty cool. Im guessing that it wont cause any eye damage, but it you push your "eye muscle" too much it might cause some damage.

P.S. After reading this I went to my bathroom to try it out, and guess what! I managed to do it, pretty cool. Thanks!

  3. This phenomenon is medical, as opposed to paranormal.  What you describe __ my pupil rapidly constricts (voluntary pupil movement) & i can only do it with one eye__ could be the symptoms of a disease of the optic nerve , spine or brain.  It is advisable to see an opthometrist ASAP.

Do you refer to eyeless sight or second sight with __ I WISH I COULD HIDE MY EYES WITH MY EYELIDS__?  I'm sceptical of the premise.  Clairvoyance & ESP is so The Jerry Springer Show.

  4. Don't attempt this in bright lights, and you should be fine. When you are sexually aroused this happens naturally, so I think it's great you can control this.

I found I could slow my pulse and stop breathing. I started drifting up in an OBE, but then something kicked in and I got yanked back with a bump.- haven't tried this since as I have found less life threatening methods.

  5. It's not that hard, really. The iris is just a round muscle that works automatically. Many things can make it change size.

  6. This is unusual.  I've never heard of anyone who can voluntarily control their pupil aperture.

  7. I think it's cool that you can do a stupid human trick.  I can wiggle my ears and blow air through my tear ducts.  It's great at parties :)!  I wish I could do the pupil thing though.  I'm gonna practice later...

  8. No.

  9. I kinda can, I think it's fine.

  10. no, mine wont sit still in class long enough to control. I can hide my eyes with my eye lids, wanna see? The only problem is, I dont know what it looks like when I do this trick.

  11. I can't do that unless shining a light into my eyes to make the pupil small counts.

  12. I think you should at least ask an optometrist about this before you continue doing it. Your eyes are EXTREMELY valuable. Don't take any chances on damaging them.
