It's not like I make TONS of money, I make $12 and my hubby makes $11. Not a lot when my mortgage is $850. I don't get it. How do I pay for college and do I NEVER qualify for grants because we don't have kids???? That's not fair !

  1. Maybe go back and recheck it.  That seems a little off.  I worked two jobs, one full time making $11/hr and one 3/4th time making $8/hr.  I do have a daughter and my EFC is 0.  Are you sure its not 1145? I would just go over your info to make sure you typed everything in right.  If it is right, then talk to the Financial Aid department.  You could get a student loan through the school (they really dont go by credit, and you wont need a cosigner).  Just get something small though so when it comes time to pay it back you dont owe a arm and a leg.

  2. are you sure it did not say 1145. you should definitely go back and review your fafsa to see if there was an incorrect number placed somewhere. i have never heard of a efc for that much. go to your fin aid counselor at the school and see if they can walk you through it...

  3. If it were easy everyone would do it and no one would need it.  I would recomend going part time so you can pay as you go or take out federal student loans if you are classified as a jr or senior.  Just be sure you don't borrow more than the cost of your tuition, fees and books.

It's well worth it.  I did it and so can you.

Those who have kids and go to school are less likely to graduate... think about this positively!!
