I cannot connect my philips vcr to my rca t.v.

Question

They are both working fine but the t.v. asks me to set up the VCR, asks for the product name and I select it from a drop down menu, but it won't connect, it tells me to refer back to the manual. Unfortunately I don't have the manual any longer. The cable is connected from the outlet to the TV directly; Any suggestions would be appreciated. e-mail address is: [e-mail]
