It is just a standard Queen box spring. Nothing fancy.

  1. I have never heard of cutting a box spring in half, but I'm sure it could be done.  The only problem is - putting it back together - Impossible!

  2. I have never heard of that, but would suggest you look at an upstairs windows that may be big enough.

I have removed a pane of glass to get some concrete into the house for a basement floor.

  3. My parents had that problem, they were able to get it in through an upstairs window.  Do you have a window or door upstairs it could go through?  If not, you are going to have to replace it with a split box spring!!

  4. You will need to get a split box spring.  Try the Original Mattress Factory...if you have one near you.  you will need two 30 x 80 box springs.  You can't cut a standard in half and then get it together again to make it work.  The cost for buying split box springs is only about $50 more for the pair...keep in mind that you HAVE to have a frame with a center support for this to work.  Good Luck!

  5. I've heard of it as I live in an area of old houses, many with tight turns in the staircase.  I think people cut from the bottom and then sort of fold it like a sandwich.
