Please show how. Question Negative pi/50 find the co-terminal angle the answer is 7pi/6? This is what I do negative pi/50 x pi/180= -3.6 = 360 + 356.4/1 x pi/180= wrong answer.

  1. I agree with Karl.  But not only do you need to frame your question more neatly and understandably, you need to type in the numbers correctly !

    I understand the question (just !), but if the answer you seek is indeed 7π/6, then your original angle must be  - 5π / 6   (not  - π / 50 !!!)

    Secondly, the initial angle is in radians, and the answer is in radians, so there is no need to convert to degree measure (even if you understood how to do it, which you do not.

    For information :  degrees to radians   multiply degrees by π / 180

    radians to degrees :  multiply radians by  180 / π

    So when you tried (unnecessarily) to convert to degrees, you used the wrong conversion factor, so it is not surprising that you got completely lost !)

    Right, back to the question.  I assume that you are familiar with the representation of angles in the full 360 circular form ?  With a zero at the "3-o-clock" position, counting positive angles in the anti-clockwise direction, so negative angles are measured  in the clockwise direction?

    You must also be aware, (but not exactly familiar with) the use of radians to measure angles, and it is much better to stick with one form or the other, and avoid making conversions from one to the other unless absolutely necessary  (for one thing, conversions are accurate only in a few special cases).

    Your original question concerned the angle (-  5π / 6), so it is measured in the clockwise (i.e. negative) direction.  The coterminal angle is simply the same angle as measured in the anti-clockwise (i.e. positive direction).

    So together, the angle and its coterminal equivalent just add up to the full circle  (yes, 360 degrees, but try to think equally well in radians when appropriate, as in this case), which is 2π.

    Hence, the coterminal angle is simply  2π - (5π / 6)  =  (12π - 5π) / 6

    which  =  7π / 6.

    Very simple when you know how !  But it helps if you get the right question in the first place !

  2. The question is poorly formulated. You need to use more punctuation to make your question unambiguous!
