  1. hibernate and standby menus wont appear unless and until u install the necessary .inf files for ur motherboard. these are known as the chipset drivers. so install them from the motherboard cd, restart, and u will find these options again.

  2. When you go to shutdown, hold down the Shift key, it should change the Standby button to Hibernate.

  3. First of all do a thing.

Go to properties by right clicking on desktop.

now go to screen saver and go to power tab.

Then you can find their hibernate tab go their and tick the enable box.

If you had done it then try reinstalling your drivers from the Driver CD

    Then follow same procedure.

If still not works then format from other CD

cause Hibernation works in SP2 in all type/edditions of Windows XP except Tablet 2005.

Proof : I also used SP2 and only hibernates my computer for 2 years.

Suggestion : upgrade to SP3 it improves spped and performance and boosts up your startup (Atleast it did to mine computer)

    ***Good luck

  4. go to start menu, control panel, power options, and then click on the hibernate tab and activate it because it usually not in the default settings it's something extra than u r supposed to set

  5. When you click “Turn Off Computer” on the Start menu, the Hibernate button does not appear in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or in Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005.Plz check the link
