Hello. I've tried at several banks to open a checking account and they wont allow me. Its because a couple of years ago I came out owing my bank money and they sent my accoutn to collection. I've since paid off the collection but they still wont let me open one, trust me I've tried so please dont suggest I speak to the manager or anything like that.

My work is "forcing" me to get direct deposit. I had heard someone a while back talking about how they get direct deposit through some online bank and they were given a debit card. I want to know if anyone knows of a good reputable place I can turn to.

Thank you.

  1. Get a savings account with an ATM card.  Or, see if your work has a credit union who will give you a limited use checking account.  Otherwise, speak to your employer.  I don't think they can legally require you to accept direct deposit - they can strongly suggest it, but I'm almost positive they have to have exceptions for people who do not have a bank account.

  2. You have a couple of option here:

You can get a pre-paid card -- those will let you do direct deposit.  I use to have AccountNow and they were really good and when I had direct deposit my monthly fee was waived!!

You can get a savings account -- most banks and credit unions even though you're in Chexsystems will give you a savings account with an ATM card so you can access your money.

Well some advice from someone who has been on both sides - as the banker and the person that was in Chexsystems --- stay away from the bigger banks they will 99% reject you ---if you have a small bank where you live they may open an account for you with restrictions....also if you do find a bank that is not so well-know just make sure that they are FDIC insured!!!!

I had a customer that tried www.newbankaccount.net and was satisfied with their service so you can try visting there site to see if you're interested

FYI --- Also I have heard that Bank of America will give you a checking even though you're in Chexsystems --- so if you haven't already try them

  3. Open a savings account. Direct deposit works for those also.

  4. You can get one of those Rush cards.

  5. My work forces direct deposit too.  I opened my checking account on-line with Bank of America.  They sent me a bank card and I have my checks direct deposited with them.

    Good luck!

  6. You can get direct deposit to those prepaid debit cards. Just go to a check cashing store, buy one, and ask for the direct deposit form.

  7. i have a mio card. most prepaid cards now allow direct deposit. Walmart has some that you can buy. You can get 2 cards at i think 12$ or one at 5 or 6$ you have to have money to put on it in the first place but after you activate it you can get direct deposit. you can go online also and look up prepaid credit cards. it will help with your building your credit back up along with getting your check. i've been doing this since i turned 18 2 years ago and my credit is still low. its been building since.
