Question:

I cannot sit "Indian Style" but I can't figure out why and I wonder if it is a hip problem?

Since I was a little kid I could never ever sit "Indian style" crossed legs. My left leg bends in and lays flat just fine but the right will go up at a close to 60 degree angle and it hurts very badly so my right leg likes to naturally bend out facing right so it is positioned exactly like my left leg facing out instead of in. When I do that it lies completely flat. I can't find any reason online for this because maybe I don't know what I am looking for. Could it be some sort of hip issue? I've been like this forever I don't know if it was a birth defect, all I know is it sucks when I am in yoga class and I just can't do it. HELP!

  1. i cant sit that way either!

    its nothing bad though.

it just means that you arnt as flexible in your hips and knees as most.

besides, if you can do it that means youre double jointed, so they are the weird ones.

    haha.

also, it is bad to sit "indian style".

it can ruin your knees and give you arthritis when you are older because they arnt even supposed to bend that way.

    so consider yourself lucky.

    and you arnt alone!

i cant sit that way either and neither can a bunch of my friends.
