I have Windows XP which should have the driver built into it, according to Canon, but for some reason, its not there. How can I fix this? Is there somewhere to download the driver I need?

  1. When you bought your camera, the driver (CD) usually comes with it on the box/package. Just install it. If it's not in there, then you can go to Canon homepage. Just google it.

Some digital cameras need their Driver Installer installed first before the computer recognizes the hardware. I have one like that. Samsung.

  2. You shouldn't need a driver for the Powershot SD750.  When plugged in, it should act like a standard USB storage device and whichever photo program you use to manage your photos should be able to read from it.

Be sure you plug your camera into a USB port and then turn on the camera by pressing the button with a rectangle and an right facing arrow on the button's face.

A software CD did ship with the camera, and if you can't find it, you can download the latest version from Canon's website.

  3. Plug it in to your computer while the camera is off, then press the playback button - usually a window will pop up that asks you what you want to do with the files (download them, copy them, etc)

If that doesn't work keep your camera on do the following:

Right click on "My Computer" ----> Click "Manage" ----> Under "Storage" click "Disk Management"

You should see your camera listed on the right side along with your C drive. Right click on your camera and select Open you should be able to see your pictures.

  4. It will show usually like just a drive and not have your camera icon or camera name present. XP recognizes any drive as a mass storage drive and designates a number to this. No drivers are needed, but you will have to turn your camera on for the 'puter to detect it...most of the time. My Sony's show just as drive e and f. Try unplugging it, look at your drives in my computer and when you plug it in see if a new letter and drive has appeared.
