When I type in 192.168.1.1, the username and password come up, I enter the (e.g. NETGEAR username: admin password: password) but when i press ok, the password becomes blank, and if I do this two more times the message: 401 Unauthorized Access to this resource is denied; your client has not supplied the correct authentication. comes up. Does anyone know how to fix this because i am trying to get a WEP key?

  1. Whoever set up your router changed the default password to prevent unauthorized access to the router.  Talk to him/her and get the password.  You can probably get the key from the same person.

If, on the other hand, you're trying to break into a network... no help here.

  2. if is an ip address you could just reset the router again and type in 192.168.1.1; put in admin for the password only..

  3. Try username: admin, leave password blank.

If that doesn't work try entering 192.168.0.1? Then, enter username and password as mentioned before. Does that fix the problem?

It would help if we knew the model # of the router?
