  2. No handouts here but check craigslist as there are always beater boards for less than a $100.

  3. Working is a good suggestion, Craig's list is a bad one. Unless you are pretty knowledgeable, you can really get taken buying a surfboard on line. There are really only three ways to buy a surfboard: 1) from a friend, 2) from a surf shop, and 3) direct from the shaper.

    I have been surfing since 1966, and I was always able to save up enough money to buy a board, and believe me, I have bought lots of used boards. But I got them at real surf shops, where I trusted the folks who worked there. I bought a couple on lay away and time payments,, too. And from the time I bought my first surfboard at 13 or 14, I worked and earned every nickle for every board I have had.
