  1. if you have purchased a genuine xp instillation cd the cd is self bootable. you may have to go into your computers bios settings and select cd drive to boot first before the hard drive boots. If its a xp upgrade disk, this will boot as well, but you will have to have a cd-key / product key from windows 95 98 or me to install xp.

  2. You need to get to the boot menu... I don't remember if that is F11 or F12 on Toshiba.

As soon as you turn on your laptop, start pressing the F11, then F12, then F11, then F12... back and forth...

It should give you a boot menu that will allow you to select the CD drive to boot from the XP Disc

  3. you need to enter bios and set the boot order so that cd rom is first and hdd is second, then when you start the pc with the disc in it will say press any key to boot from disc, press a key and follow the instructions

  4. you can always format the hard drive and do fresh install of xp

  5. hi

Toshiba will need raid drivers. Win Xp can only be installed through floppy driver. You will have to download raid driver and copy it on a floppy. During installation of Xp it will ask option for third party installation and will have to select that option.

Even to install Vista you will need raid driver. But Vista can detect USB ports during installation process where are Xp doesn't.

  6. flash the bios..

restart notebook > F2 > boot sequence "im not sure thats the name of the tab but you'll see 1st boot: HDD 2nd boot: CD etc" and make sure the boot menu is ENABLED.. then change your 1st boot to CD then save changes your laptop will restart then press F12.. you'll see the boot menu if CD is first boot hit enter then that will do..

    that should help you..
