  1. From my experience, that cable that you have could also lead from the back of your Optical Disc Drive (such as a CD-ROM, DVD, CD-RW, etc) that goes into a sound output on the motherboard, if there is one built into your motherboard.  Otherwise, it would plug into your soundcard for "CD DRIVE" or the sort.  Again, it could also be your PC speaker that's attached to the case.  (Some computers I've seen don't even have them).  The cable that goes into the Optical Disc Drive is only for the audio jack (I think) if you wanted to plug a pair of headphones into it.  Either way, I wouldn't worry much about it.

  2. I am not familiar with your motherboard (is it an MSI...they lable things diamond, platinum, etc.), but that looks like the cable for the pc speaker.  Usually it goes into a set of pins near the bottom of the mb that the other cables from the case connect to (ie. HDD light, power buton, reset button, etc.)

It also might be possible that your motherboard does not have a connection for a PC speaker, but I have never had one that did not.
