  1. I don't know about a search engine, but in the yellow pages under CHILD CARE-DAY CARE CENTERS, I see hundreds of listings.  And I am north of you here in Baltimore

Most ISP's offer a yellow pages on their sites, so you could also look there.

  2. What about craigslist?

    http://dc.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.h...

  3. if you know the name of the daycare and you looking for a map to guide you there the best way is to go to http://www.google.com/maps

or if u are finding daycare then http://www.google.com

  4. referrals from other parents is the best way to choose day-care. talk to people at work, neighbors-strangers if you have to.

  5. Jo,

I can recommend a couple options.  You can look at an online childcare listings site like ChildcareAvenue.com or you can visit the Washington DC early childhood site.  I've included links to both.  The ChildcareAvenue.com link takes you to listings for 236 different childcare options.  The Washington DC site, dcschoolsearch.dc.gov, takes you to a search form where you can filter listings by school type (center or home-based) and sort by ward.  I hope this helps.  Good luck.

  6. Go to http://www.childcarecentral.com  On this site you can type in your specific zip code and search for daycare centers, daycare homes, or  both.
