I cant get any mouse to work on my dell laptop.

Question

when plugged into usb port no mouse will work .did have a mouse a while back that did work then stopped working.nothing wrong with usb ports as other things work through them.how do i install the new mouse on laptop.its a wired optical mouse model no am-3055u can you please advise
