I cant get my audio system to work in my car help please.?

I have it all hooked up right i am positive the amp turns on and everything when i dont have the RCA cables from the stereo plugged in, but when i plug those into my amp the amps protection light comes on. my amp is a zx1500.1 kicker and my sub is a L7 15". Also if i plug my ipod directly into my amp and turn my car on It works and everything i am clueless to what to do if any1 can help me with some tips please do.

you have a short in either you head unit or  and your fuse. if the protection light comes on there a problem from either your better or your head unit i had this problem once before, once i changed my head unit it started working. reason was when i let some installer rewire it they pulled the RCA cords out of the back of my stereo causing it to crack or pull on something so it was causing problem.

could be ur stereo,,,but it might be ur audio cables too
