Question:

I cant get my car to start?

I own a toyota vios.

I let my cousin park my car outside my house and now i'm having trouble starting it.

The steering wheel seems to be locked to the left, and I can't seem to turn the key in the ignition. Everytime I turn the key, it's as though I'm about to break it (which I don't want to do, obvioiusly!)

What do I do? Please help...

  1. It's in steering lock, Do what the guy said above, you will have to hold it quite firm to one side and try and start the car and it should just click over,

If you turn your steering wheel enough while the car is off it goes into lock i think so people can't roll/tow it to steal it i think.

  2. Try turning the wheel more to the left while turning the key. It may be in a bind and the wheels are pushing against the lock in the steering column.

  3. Your steering wheel is locked.

When your cousin parked the car he probably didn't straighten the wheels out, so they are now locked.

Turn your wheel in the opposite direction and hold it, you should be able to turn your key then.

  4. Turn the steering wheel right or left and then try to turn the key. Sounds like it in a bind.
