  1. Try to read loud. It really helps!!!! I had the same problem when I tried to read the book of one my humanity classes. I just can't read the frea.. book but what I did was I read loud and then tried to explain what I already read. Even that I look and sound crazy I don't regret using this method because it really helped me!

    Good Luck

  2. A couple of things that I find help are:

    1) Try picking up a different book on the same subject - different authors have different styles and some are more readable than others - a good author should be engaging. This one has helped me out quite a few times.

    2) Set yourself achievable targets and record your progress - e.g. set yourself a manageable weekly target - recording your progress on a spreadsheet helps keep you motivated and on track

  3. Turn off all distractions(ex:ipod,tv,computer, maybe phone). Sit down. don't get distracted. read,

  4. it helps if your in a comfortable place while reading like in bed. and sometimes if you chew gum it helps you focus to get your mind off things.

  5. You need to relax. Make sure you're in a room free of all distractions.
