some online free virus destroyer may actually cause a virus! i dont like to trust most sites so i just format my computer. although i lose all my files, when its done, its fresh and new. and it also encourages me to be extra careful not to get another virus if i dont want to lose my files again.

Update your anti-virus, remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC

Restart your PC in safe mode, and run a full scan with both.

Disable any you do not use.

After you reboot back to normal mode, download and install ccleaner to fix any registry problems and clean up old temp files.

These days you need much more than just an antivirus protection.

Antispyware:

First of all I have spywareterminator.This is a great antispyware.It also has antivirus but don't install that because it will conflict with avast or antivir and it uses Clamwin which is not sucha good antivirus.Only install protection against spyware.

Then I use spybot search and destroy.I only use it to scan.Don't install the security center.

Then i have superantispyware.There is a free and a pro version of superantispyware.I use the free one.The difference between both is that the free version doesnt have a realtime shield.

Oh by the way....

Avast is a good antivirus but on the ther hand AVG does absolutely nothing.Completly useless,I doubt it ever finds one bloody virus.It once picked up a trojan horse on my pc....and guess what...It wasn't actually a trojan horse.

Every single AVG product sucks sorry.

umm... get an antivirus program, or go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/?WT.mc_i... and run the free scan there. You should be able to remove it that way :) (i would be calling you an idiot, but i've had bad viruses before. I understand. A few years ago, virus completely DESTROYED my Windows XP installation. not pretty.)

Now lets clean up your disk.

Do a Disk Cleanup and Disk Defrag. You can find both of them by following the path below.

Start > My Computer > (Right click) on your HD > Properties > Tools > Defragment > Defragment now . Let it do its thing. You can check every box that has something to delete.

Now follow the same path and do a Disk Cleanup. Note that if you havent defraged in a while or you have never degraged before, that it will take a while, just be paitent and let it do its thing

Another way to improve your computers preformance is by reducing the graphical settings.

Heres how!

Start - Control Panel - System - Advanced (tab) - Preformance (Section) - Settings (Button)

you can turn off everything if you want, or just a few things, it removes all the extra stuff to make your interface look pretty, but can be turned off to get better preformance

Finally turn off indexing.

Click on My Computer>right click on C drive> left click on Properties. Now uncheck allow indexing. A windows pops up, just click Ignore All and then Apply. Let it do its thing.

After applying the suggestions above you will have a clean and faster computer. Enjoy.

there are viruses out there that is nearly impossible to remove,once you remove it 5seconds later it will reinstall itself

It will remove any malicious software put on the computer after that time period.
