If your earphones are plugged into a PC, plug them into something else which you know is working, such as an MP3 player.

If you get sound, then there problem is software related with your PC, otherwise most likely the wire in your earphone cable has been damaged and you should buy a new one.

Did you throw them before or after they stopped working?

If you threw them before, that could have broken them.

You should now throw them in a bin and go and buy a dictionary instead.
