Question:

I cant get the protect led to go away?

i have a 1800 watt chopper series 2 channel amplifier and 2 12" sony xplods 4 ohms each

i also have a scosche capacitor

i have everything wire right and the capacitor is working, but the protection led on the amplifier wont go away, ive tried wiring the subs in a series, regular way, and none of those would work. please tell me what i could do to fix this cause i just bouth this amp new.

  1. Chances are the amp has failed and there is nothing you can do to fix it yourself and taking it to be repaired will cost more than it is worth. If the light stays on with the speakers disconnected it's TOAST. This is a common problem with Chopper and other non CEA compliant amps. If you just bought it and it has a warranty take it back. Get your $ back if you can, if you exchange it it will happen again.

    Brands to avoid if you want to prevent this in the future: Audiobahn, Visonic, Dual, Chopper , Fusion.


  2. The amp will stay on protect if something is not right,like if wires are hooked where they are not suppost to

    just have someone check out your hook ups and see whats wrong
