Question:

I cant go to sleep!!!?

hi, im 14 years old and i cant go to sleep at all........ this is happened suddenly. i was able to go to sleep really quick before and now for some reason i cant. so please help me im too young and my body needs rest. and im startin school in a few weeks idk how im going to survive school. so please help me

  1. I've had trouble sleeping since I was in junior high (I'm 29 now).  First things first: when you're in bed, and you can't sleep, figure out why.  Are you uncomfortable?  Too hot?  Too cold?  Can't find a good sleeping position?  In pain?  Is your mind too active?  Stressed?  Excited?  Wild imagination?  It may vary from night to night.  I actually deal with all these things, and have ways of battling each one.

    If you just can't seem to get comfortable, try:

    -Straightening out your bedding and pillows, or re-making the bed.

    -Sleeping sideways or upside-down in your bed (your head at the side or foot of your bed).  Sounds really wierd, but works for me.

    -Sleeping on the couch, in a chair, on the floor, or in a different bed.

    If you are in pain (sore muscles or joints), try:

    -A big glass of water and an anti-inflammatory pill like Tylenol (check with your parents first to make sure it's okay).

    If you just can't relax or stop thinking:

    -Read a really boring book.

    -Lie on your back.  Starting at your feet, tense the muscles in each part of your body (feet, calves, thighs, abs, etc.)  for 10-20 seconds, then slowly release.  Try to concentrate on your breathing and movement.

    These are just some tricks that have worked for me over the years.  If nothing works, have your parents talk to your doctor.

    its cause its summer. its waaay too hot in sum areas to fall asleep.

    and also maybe cause ur in a habit to go to bed late.

    or u just no that u dont have school tomorrow and so u dont really need to sleep early.

    heres wat u should do

    -sleep at a decent time. 9 maybe.

    -listen to some music to help you fall asleep.

    -or drink milk.

    *if u continue to have problems...talk to a doctor.

  4. I used to have this and it had a lot too do with me just not letting myself go to sleep. Like if you have a TV or comp in your room just shut them off and lay there no matter how long it takes. Eventually you should fall asleep. Hope this works.
