Recently Yahoo updated their chess software program and you now need the new version. The first thing you will have to do is remove the old software demo. Standard clearing the cache does not remove game demos (deleting browser history old files clearing cookies, etc) They have to be deleted by manually selecting the Yahoo demo program. There are 3 ways of doing this,not all PCs are the same,Try them in order until you get the old demo deleted.

#1 Click start button, then search, click on files/folders, type in yahoo chess. When file comes up, right click on it and then click remove. Next time you visit Yahoo chess it will prompt you to download the new demo of Yahoo's newest version of chess.

#2 Go to tools on your tool bar, then select Internet options, browser history, settings button, view objects. Select the game chess and then delete it.

#3 Go to start,my PC, click on C-drive, open the windows folder, open the downloaded programs folder.your games are listed there. delete the chess file.

#4 Internet explorer works best with yahoo games. If you are trying to use Foxfire make sure Sun java is checked as default java as it will not work with msn virtual machine java

Go to tools, internet options,advance tab. Scroll down to Sun java check it and java scrolling and JIT.

5 Flash player 9's latest update is causing some games to not load.use the link below for a download of Flashplayer #8 It will work for sure and #9 with debugger should work as it's older then last update. You have to remove the present flash player,(add/remove programs in control panel). reboot then download the older version.

If you are talking about actual chess pieces, you can replace them very inexpensively at second hand stores and thirft shops - I have seen many chess games in those places.

If you are talking about Yahoo chess, there have been many problems with it lately since Yahoo updated a couple of months ago.  Many people have had problems with it.  The answer a previous poster gave you may help with that.
