both games - as well as any games - take time to figure out.  be patient and practice.  pool is all about angles and point of impact.  chess is all about strategy and how to maneuver your pieces for a good defense and for a good attack.  you can't pick up a video game and expect to ace it in one night.  same concept with these two games.  it's that old saying... practice makes perfect... or at least average.  also, get with someone who does know how to play these games and let them show you some ideas for getting better.  good luck
