I cant remember the name of a movie which involves two college students and its very similar to school ties?

introduction: the scene starts in a old time period, is like in the 60s in the time of a war in america but i do not no which one. well the guy goes to college and is met by four people and then he meets lets say bobby (fake name) so him and bobby become really good friends and booby takes him to his favorite spot which is a tree next to a lake (i think) and he meets his family and his girlfriend but suddenly he becomes indifferent with bobby and starts to act different.Okay, scene 1: the two guy friends always go to this tree and jump from it to the water. scene 2:one of the friends is going to fall but his friend saves him. scene 3: bobby holds out his hand because he is falling from the tree but his friend doesn't grab him even though he saved him last time . scene 4: there's like a secret club in which they are wearing black cloak's and they bring the guy that let bobby fall from the tree and is confronted by the club but bobby, the one he let fall, defends him.scene 4: one of the friends goes to the war. scene 5:in the end bobby dies and he feels so bad because it was his fault and he was the best friend and person he has ever had.

Yeah, I too had to read it in High School; the name of the book is "A Separate Peace" By John Knowles. I am sure that the name of the movie is the same. I looked it up & they have made one than one movie or TV movie of it. I am sure that you are looking for the 2004 "A Separate Piece" movie.
