I cant set up my home theatre / gaming / entertainment center! what do i need to do?

i have tried and tried to think of ways to set it up but it is nearly impossible. okay heres what i have:

- Sanyo DP42647 HDTV

- Philips HTS6500 DVD Surround Sound System

- Motorola DVR

- PS3

the tv is a flat screen, mounted to wall, with a hole behind it allowing the power cable, and an hdmi cable to drop down to another hole near the floor.

the hdmi cable is connected to the dvr, which is what we have the cable cord going into.

I need the surround sound to play audio from the television, ps3, and dvds that it plays.

i also need to be able to switch over to the ps3 simply by pressing a button, and not by having to get up and switch cords like previously.

so what do i need to do? and if at all possible it would be great to not have to take the tv back off and drop more cords... took hours cause of pipes in the walls the first time.

so again, what do i need to do? any help is appreciated! thank you!

  1. Hi

You will find good connection  info here:

  2. You would need to purchase an HDMI Switcher.

This would cut down considerably the amount of cables you have going to the TV.

We sell them at our website starting at 60$, way cheaper than any retail chain that sells them starting at 150$.

We carry HDMI Cables and Wall Plates to conceal the cables as best as possible.

  3. If there is a second HDMI input on the television, you may have to get a second HDMI cable for the PS3 and hook it up to the available HDMI port on the television.

Another option is to see if there is a retailer, such as RadioShack or Best Buy, that sells an HDMI switcher.

You'd need two HDMI cables in addition to the one you already have connected to your television. You connect the HDMI cable on the television to the switcher's output, then hook up the DVR and PS-3 to the HDMI sockets on the switcher's A(1) and B(2) inputs.

As for the digital audio feed, you may be able to connect the TV's digital audio output to the surround sound system's digital input; the television might pass digital audio from the sources through to the surround sound system.
