  1. you may have a serious disorder called

    "insomnia"

    go see your doctor now.

  2. Trinity and Trueblue have some good tips, but the majority of the advice here is pretty bad.

There are behaviors that a lot of people have that mess up their sleep. To combat this, the American Association of Sleep Medicine has put out a chart about sleep hygiene. Following the sleep hygiene recommendations should help you change a few patterns in your daytime activities and help you get to sleep.

You probably don't have chronic insomnia. You may have transient paroxysmal insomnia, or acute insomnia (short term insomnia). Basically you can't have chronic insomnia unless you have had problems sleeping for a year or more.

Don't worry about going to a doctor unless your lack of sleep interferes with your daytime alertness, memories, breathing, or mood. Women are more than twice as likely to have problems falling asleep or maintaining sleep than men. Your condition is probably normal and you'll be asleep in no time.

I don't recommend sleeping pills because a lot of them are habit-forming or narcotic. They can induce sleep but frequently fragment sleep and cause arousals. The good thing about most sleeping pills is that you need to see a doctor before getting them. Stealing your mom's or borrowing them from a friend is bad because everyone reacts differently to medications. Talk to a doctor if you feel like you really can't sleep.

Good luck! I hope this helps you get quality sleep.

By the way, I'm a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist and I have a degree in sleep medicine as well as a Certificate of Achievement in Polysomnography. I perform sleep disorder studies on patients 5 nights a week and I'm in constant contact with Neurologists, Psychiatrists, Pediatricians, Otorhinolarynchologists, and Pulmonologists who are all board certified in sleep medicine.

  3. Wow oohh my god!

this is exactly whats happening to me no joke!

I swear this on everything I have haha.

I solved this myself. So you might want to listen up.

You got the habit of sleeping late during vacation.

You try to sleep now early but your internal clock got messed up.

ok this is what I did.

Get tired! go out before you go to bed and do exercises

get your body physically tired and worn out, and right before you go to bed, eat foods that

don't have any caffeine or so.

I remand cereal, warm milk and bread, something light a dairy, etc.

Eventually over time you'll get use to sleeping early.

  4. you have to either start doing stuff to tire yourself before like 10 like exercise or work you have to get done around the house. or just stay up and then you will have to start sleeping at night because you will be so tired that should even you out so to speak.

  5. Invite me over to your house!

  6. take some sleeping pills to get you back into your normal routine, but once school starts get off them... they may make you feel like c**p, but they can help you get back on track... I have the same prob and will go days without much sleep... I just went a week with about 8 hrs of sleep and finally crashed out for 12 hrs last night... let me know what works.

  7. I suggest going to bed whenever you get tired, and setting an alarm for an early time. That way, you get fewer hours of sleep, which will trick your body into going to bed at a decent hour that night.

Start setting your alarm clock for a little earlier each night. That way, by the time school starts, your body will be more accustomed to waking up early.

  8. go see a doctor firstly. are you stressed or have a lot on your plate? this can disrupt sleep. go to bed at the same time every night regardless of how sleepy you are. you need to train your body back into a pattern. if you keep going over issues in your mind, write them down and put them on the table and tell yourself you will deal with it in the morning and don't let those issues cross your mind at all before you go to sleep. tell yourself that there is nothing you can do right now so you will deal with it in the morning.

sleeping tablets may help you get back into a routine but please don't abuse them!

  9. You could possibly be suffering from a sleep disorder called insomnia.  Your doctor can help you treat this if that is what it is.  Otherwise, I would see if you have changed any of your eating habits recently which could contribute to your sleeping patterns.  If you are suffering from excessive stress or depression that can also cause changes in sleep.  There are over the counter sleep aids that you might be able to try but I would suggest consulting with your physican first.  Good Luck!
