  1. INSOMNIA REMEDIES

(Valeriana officinalis) is a herb that has been long used as a remedy for insomnia.Valerian is usually taken between an hour before bedtime. It takes about two to three weeks to work. It shouldn't be used for more than three months at a time. Side effects of valerian may include mild indigestion, headache, palpitations, and dizziness.

Melatonin is a popular remedy to help people fall asleep when the sleep/wake cycle has been disturbed, such as in shift workers or people who with jet lag.

Kava is an anti-anxiety herb that may be helpful for anxiety-related insomnia. However, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an advisory to consumers about the potential risk of severe liver injury resulting from the use of dietary supplements containing kava.

  2. relax every part of your body and then think of someone u know with the initials A.A. then B.B. and go through the alphabet like that and I can almost promise you wont make it to Z.Z.

  3. well you are not sleeping because you have too many things on your mind which id a big problem because you do spend too much time thinking in bed instead of resting and relaxing. you should clear your mind before you go to bed ... try taking a warm bath with lots of bubbles and scents e.g lavender as this will relax you and prepare you for bed. then when you go to bed dont think of all your problems, think of happy things or things you are looking forward to. it always works the special secret to a good nights sleep is lavender oil, spray etc put some on your pillow. and you should fall asleep in no time. or simply read a book to get your mind of things

    =]

  4. what you need is some hot chocolate..really milky..dont take sleeping pills caus they can be dangerous.you need also to relax during the daytime and try not to be so busy.try doin things that you enjoy.

  5. u have racing thought, they have pysic drugs for that problem

  6. go to ur gp and ask for sleeping pills!!

  7. Endorphins are endogenous opioid polypeptide compounds. They are produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates during strenuous exercise, excitement, and o****m.

They are really good to help you get to sleep, so a vigorous and exciting s*x session should have you out like a light. Lol.

EDIT: Oh yeah, now that the Olympics are on, watch that, that will cure Insomnia.

  8. booze can seem pretty apealing choice at 5.00 am when you feel like beating your head off a wall just to knock yourself out for some rest huh but alas sob sob i guess your right in excluding that notion.

warm relaxing baths work for some. soothing music, routine is supposed to help, for some pills work but must admit i was still laying awake with my mind raceing at all hours when i tried them, all they did was make me sleep longer into the next day lol.

exersise helps some. as do oils and scents

    .

i found though the only thing that really did any good for me though was popping in an audio book and focusing on the voice reading it instead of allowing my thoughts to hare off on their own.

    good luck

  9. Try drinking milk or eating rice before going to bed, both contain melatonin, a natural sleeping aid, which help you sleep better. From http://nosleep.in

  10. This happens to me sometimes, usually when I am worried about many things or trying to do too many things at once in my life. Firstly, try to see if you can deal with what keeps you awake at night during the day. Simplify your To Do list and don't overload yourself - there is all the time in the world, after all. Then, try having a cup of camomile tea an hour before you go to bed. Add a supplement of Vitamin B12 if you like - both are soporific: that is, sleep-inducing. Furthermore, try wearing yourself out more in the day by exercising appropriately - even 30 minutes will help. Finally, eat well (including lots of green vegetables like broccoli and spinach), drink two and a half litres of water a day (more if you exercise) and don't eat too late in the evening. You could also take a multivitamin in the morning to help with your brain function. Alternatively, taking a high-potency B-complex supplement (such as Solgar's) in the morning is a good idea as B vitamins affect mood and have the ability to reduce worry, thus may help you sleep later.

  11. make sure your room is completely dark at night and is at a comfortable temperature. alot of people read before bed and start unwinding about an hour before sleeping. also, by going to bed the same time everynight your body will realize that sleep is a routine.

i personally write down whats on my mind on a piece of paper next to my bed so that i can deal with all things tomorrow. it really helps to know that i wont forget anything. here is a helpful quote to try an emulate.

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense"- Ralph Waldo Emerson
