I cant swallow my pill!!!!!?

Question

I'm right about to swallow it. THEN BAM!!!!!!!! my mouth closes up.then the pill tastes uber terrible!!!!!!!!!!!! and i secretly have to go spit out and flush it down the toilet.ill just get sicker if i cant get my meds! this happend with me for the last 5 pills!!!!!are there any tricks? silly stupid question i know. but myths? anyway to get my pill to slide down without me being so scared

OMG - i cant swallow pills worth c**p. Like i was supposed to take these pills in the Dominican Republic... but i couldnt swallow them... so when i got home... i had a parasite.. and got really sick < ok that had notthing to do with this>

Um u can try

1. Jelly

2. Pudding

3, Mac and Cheese

5. Milk / Water

6. Anything that u normally swallow anyway without chewing....

this may sound stupid but try taking frozen peas like a pill, you get used to it and then you can take your real pill easily.

I wouldn't recommend crushing your pill- as some need to be taken whole. Try taking a sip of water & keep the water in your mouth, then add the pill/s and swallow. If that doesn't work, put your pill/s in a spoonful of applesauce, yogurt, or pudding, and swallow. Remind yourself to relax. If that still doesn't work, contact your doctor to see if your medication/s are available in another form.

try taking a sip of water, popping the pill in then swallowing just like its only water. good luck!

You need your mouth and throat to be as lubricated as possible so drink plenty of fluid first of all then take a mouthful of liquid and place the pill in your mouth and TRY to swallow normally then keep drinking to wash the taste away. If you really can't swallow tablets you need to see your doctor about taking medication in an alternate form.

I had trouble swallowing pills for awhile myself ...

I can now by letting the pill sit in a reasonable amount of water within my mouth, enough to hide the pill but not too much that I can't swallow at one time. If I hold my head back and let it float there, eventually I lose the sensation of having a pill in my mouth at all, and swallow the water all at once. Unless it's an extremely large pill, I don't even feel it go down.

Hopefully this can work for you, but truthfully, it may just take a few tries before it becomes natural to you.

Not sure if this will help but it does for me....I can't hardly take a single pill by itself....But, when I have to take all my pills--which are alot believe me---I shattered my leg almost 5 yrs ago..and on alot of meds, plus vitamans from losing so much weight. I hold my tongue out, place all of them on my tongue and the whole time my throat is open...I toss my tongue back and down they go//with water....

i was deathly afraid to swallow pills as well, and then someone told me something that changed my life ( in terms of swallowing pills).

they told me to put the pill on my tongue ( far back) and drink out of a coke bottle of some sort ( any bottle is fine..like a water bottle) basically u need to tilt ur head back to lift up the bottle..right? and then as soon as u take  a sip swallow it all down ad wallah, its gone!

i swear it works! just try it and see...trust me..i was probably more scared to swallow pills than u are!!

Some people just have trouble swallowing pills. My sister has to practically place the pill at the opening to her throat to swallow them. You could try cutting them in half to make them smaller and see if that helps.

I worked at a camp and a lot of the campers had to take their pills with applesauce or pudding. Try it. Just drop your pills in the pudding, grab a spoon, and start eating. It often works.

You know the phrase "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down?" It works. What you can do is crush your pill between two spoons and mix the the powder with sugar right in the spoon. Swallow fast and gulp some water.
