When I fight I feel like I am drunk. I know so many moves with my elbows, knees, and techniques. I am smart too... When I fought this guy, I could not even use the things I knew.

What do I need to do, to be able to think when I fight?

  1. You just need to focuse when fighting, don't let your anger and body take control of you. When you fight, your body controls you and make you do whats best and what move is best to do, you have no time to do the moves you know. Think about your moves and have a lot of fighting imagination in your mind with using those move and next time you'll be better. Think about how you would use them and how affective they'll be. If you can control your thoughts and imagination and the situation in your mind, you can control it in the real world too!!

  2. Study meditation, practice yoga, maybe that will help you focus.

Fighters like Rickson Gracie and Wallid Ishmael practice yoga, it seems to work for them.

  3. Well hopefully your not acting like me and fighting random people for making fun of you ( I'm a skateboarder VERY Anti-Authority and people like to make fun of my tight pants and black clothing) ANYWAYS you need to think about something calming don't focus so much on the fighting think more about what your opponent is going to try to do to you next (usually something with their stronger hand)

Please be safe good luck and hopefully I helped

  4. Well, if you are getting into a fist fight then I'd say you weren't thinking to begin with.

  5. Train, practice, train harder, practice more, train harder, well you get the idea. You may be not training enough. Of course if you are looking not to avoid street fights at all cost than you probably don't have the sense to train properly either.

If I'm wrong and you are training properly and still having problems than check your breathing. If you are not breathing properly under stress your critical thinking function will be the first to go. Try deep breathing deep and slow when fighting. This will keep you calmer and keep the brain oxygen levels up and control adrenalin.

  6. then dont fight problem solved

  7. Simplest solution is DON'T GET INTO A FIGHT!

  8. You didn't say how long you've been in martial arts (or if you've taken them at all). Your problem is probably from inexperience. I'm not saying you did, but you can't learn some move off of a movie and expect to remember it in a fight without practicing it hundreds of times and putting it to muscle memory. Also, after a few years of martial arts training, fighting is like second nature and you don't even have to think about the techniques you just do them like walking or breathing. You also learn how to stay calm in a fight and have self control.

  9. grow some balls

  10. You  have to fight more. Fight like 2 fights a day for like 2 years. Experience is the best teacher.

  11. I totally know what you mean, you have to try and work through it, go into the fight expecting it, and just concentrate on the moves you know you should be doing. I thought I was some kind of screwed in the head coward the first couple of times i was in fights, the more fights you get in, the more you care less about taking hits because you know your adrenaline will keep you pain free for the time being. Experience is your only real help here.

  12. you think too much , you had a bad coach,  your training should have been more disciplined and vigorous .  muscle memory is a key factor when training for the arts, start over and retrain yourself.  hai !

  13. Spar, spar, spar.

  14. First of all, don't go all out rage. That might be your problem. Two, center yourself. I constantly meditate and am able to concentrate on anything. Jus clear your mind and focus on one thing, and go through it. Time will seem a bit slowed too, givin you an advantage, since you feel you have more time to react.

  15. Because you are untrained.

  16. practice...

i kno what u mean...i used to not be able to focus in fight too. i would forget to use the techniques i recently learned...

but over time, it became more natural to use those techniques(as natural as it felt to do simple duck, dodge, and punch before).

i guess after enough practice ur body just becomes familiar to the moves, like second nature.

i would think its something like this cuz the same applies to my rubik's cubing...im a little addicted to solving my rubik's cube. at first the algorithms seemed overwhelming to become a fast solver. but a lot of ppl said after doing a sequence of moves enough times, ull become so familiar with the moves that u wont even think about it. turns out to work :). i now dont even know the sequences i use...just see the starting setup and the ending setup.

the same applied to my taekwondo & kungfu. :)

  17. First of all-dont fight. But, if you must, try thinking of everything that makes you angry- and why your even fighting this person.
