Whenever i open my usb drive in my laptop (ACER aspire), I cant view any file. USB drive is sony 1 GB. Space used is 450 MB.

This is what i have tried till now

1. enabled option to view hidden files and folders ... and Show system files .. from the folder options

2. I tried opening a file 'F1.jpg' in my usb by writing the address in the address bar, but it says no such file (this file actually exists in usb)

3. I tried looking in the usb drive by DOS' ( Run --> cmd ) command ... dir.. but it also says there are no files.

4. I can view my files if i put the same usb in any other computer than my laptop.

Please help

  1. Your laptop is unable to properly read the flash drive, and since you can view it on any other computer, this is most likely a hardware issue. You might need to get your laptop's USB ports repaired.

  2. Hmm.

The only thing I can think of is to go into "My Computer" and look for the drive (it might be F or G or something.) Then try to open it up from there. See what you can do.

    I hope this helps!

  3. are you getting a drive letter assigned?  if not then it depends on what OS you are using to get a drive letter assigned.  No drive letter, no drive.  The other thing is if your drive was formated on say windows xp or vista and your laptop is win 98 you won't be able to see the contents of the drive, though you will have an assigned drive letter.
