“I can’t wait to go out Saturday night,” says Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy
The Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy is looking in great shape at the moment after performing tremendously in 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training.
He is showing great optimism ahead of Saturday’s Opening Day when the White Sox will be playing against the Texas Rangers.
Peavy said, “I told [bench coach] Mark Parent today, I can’t wait to go out Saturday night and compete and worry about nothing but getting Ian Kinsler out to start the game, I wish the fastball command would have been better, I’m very pleased with the breaking ball. There were a lot of swings and misses, slider, changeup, curveball.”
Later the White Sox manager Robin Ventura commented on Peavy’s game and preparations.
He said, “I just want him to pitch, I’m going to let him go out there and pitch and not worry that he has to guarantee so many starts or anything else. I just want him to go, I’m going to keep him going.”
Peavy having 10-year of experience with a career 3.47 along with 109-81 win-loss record, 1554 strikeouts 1.19 WHIP is a tremendous player having curve and fast at the same time.
Recently in Arizona’s Cactus League, Peavy showed some spirited performances and earned 8.78 ERA which was ranked quite above in the White Sox’s other players. Striking-out five batters and with only one walk, Peavy showed his brilliance throughout the Spring Training.
In his ten year’s career, Peavy has achieved number of deserted awards including three-All Star selection, National League Cy Young, National League TSN Pitcher of the year and pitching triple crown.
The White Sox management along with general manager Kenny Williams and manger Robin Ventura are also hopeful and know what kind of Peavy player is and how he will be benefiting the team in the near future.
Peavy, who is also considered a role player in the team and his presence has always made things easy for rest of the roster, will certainly be exceptional with his late curve swing throws. In the meanwhile, the White Sox are also feeling quite comfortable and know this time around they have a better chance earning good results against top opponents.
