  1. They're going to make you pay them back the money.

You'd better get the person who wrote you those bad checks to make them good ... fast!

  2. did you deposit the checks and then withdraw the money too quickly and wire it to someone in another country? - you got scammed - they were probably fake bank checks - non existent bank acct - printed on the scammer's  computer - you're out 6k

  3. I'm surprised the bank did not wait for those things to clear. So now you're 6k in debts. (Who were the checks from, and is this - now - a matter of fraud?)

  4. You need to deposit $6000 + NSF fees asap, otherwise your bank can sue you.  Your option is to go after the person who issued you those bounced checks.  You can also file charges against them.  The best thing you can do right now is talk to the bank manager or the relationship manager and explain your situation.  Negotiate with them

  5. You should have deposited them and waited for them to clear.  You must now even out the account.

  6. This sucks Phil! You will have to find out who sent you the checks and press charges or pay the bank out of your own packet sad enough,,

  7. I am guessing, due to the dollar amount and that you had 2 checks, that you got sucked into a 419 scam.  Get all your emaild from those people, go talk to the bank, talk to the police and hope for the best.  You can try going to scamwarners.com to see if they have any advice for you.  Can you explain how you got those checks?  I really hope it wasn't a scam.

I wish you had posted a question here first when you got the first communication about this situation.  I'm afraid that you won't be able to recover the money.  Assuming it was a scam and you sent the funds by Western Union, try calling them to see if anything has not been picked up yet.  If not, tell them you want to cancel the transaction.

Aside from that, I don't think there's much good news for you.  You do owe the bank the money.  You deposited the checks and took the funds.  I really hate to see that this has happened to you and wish I had better advice.

    Good luck.
