I caught a lizard in south west. what should I feed him?

He is about 3 inches <including tail> I have very very small fish. Should I feed him that or ants. I caught a lizard in arizona, <I don't know what kind it is I am pretty sure that it is not gila monster or beeded lizard.

for one you should let it go,if you don&#039;t care then you need to buy it food and since your family is poor then you don&#039;t have any other option unless you want to spend your free time catching bugs instead of being around human beings. make sure any bugs you catch are long away from any pesticides

Wow!  You probably won&#039;t like this answer but i really don&#039;t think you should have taken him away from his natural habitat  You stated that your family is poor but if you wanted a lizard that badly then you should have done some chores around your neighborhood.  They cost about $15.00.  I don&#039;t know if you live in Arizona or was just visiting?  Once in the wild it would be difficult if not deadly to change his diet. They are classified as Exotic Pets. They require a Vet.

that specializes in Reptiles. They are called Herp Vets.  Very costly not only for vet care  which will cost ($50.00) just to be seen.They require many costly items.  Some are: a Reptile enclosure, Heat rocks, 2 kinds of lighting, Temperature Gauge and Humidity Level

Indicator.I have a 4 ft. lizard that was about 5 inches when i got her!  Where i bought her in a Pet Store i had my choice of a carnivore (meat eating) or Vegetarian ( fruits &amp; vegetables).

I chose to go with the vegetarian raised lizard.

Food wise it is much less &quot;messy&quot; than going out

and buying crickets.  Check with the special Vet. before you change it&#039;s diet abruptlyy.
