Question:

I changed brake pads. on a olds. alero. thats all I did, and now I have no brakes at all...Why?

I shouldn't have to bleed my brakes..all I did was changed the pads...I had brakes before I changed the pads...I did nothing else.

  1. i honestly dont know without knowing more info, maybe you should bleed the brakes and see if that does the trick


  2. Have you pumped the pedal to push the pistons back (the ones you compressed to put the pads is.  Takes a few pumps to achieve this.  

  3. because you did somethng incorrectly. Now repost this question and write down exactly what you did when you worked on it so we can figure it out.

  4. Pump the brakes with the car running. Like the others said, it may take several pumps. And yes you should bleed the brakes to get fresh fluid in there. It will prevent other problems and give the brake pedal a better feel.

  5. Dont panic.As others have said pump the pedal to move the pistons back out.It will take a few pumps.No you dont need to bleed the brakes if all you did is change pads and didnt open up anything, Pump them 5 or 6 times should be ok.........ujn
