  1. .....carbon will not hold a bond with ammonia

    (....in fresh or saltwater tanks)

....since this is a new set-up, let it completely cycle

....each week check the ammonia, once the spiking is complete you should see a more stable, lower ammonia level

....in any tank that has any fish, some ammonia will be present (so don't expect the ammonia level to remain at zero)

....do use an ammonia blocker, once the cycle is complete

....do not use ammonia blocker while the tank is cycling....that will slow the time of the cycling process way down several weeks

  2. the reason you have ammonia is because of the live rock.  It puts out ammonia.  You're going to have to wait it out.  :o(

  3. adjust ur PH change ur filter and redo the ammonia remover

  4. Activated carbon doesn't adsorb ammonia.

When you get live rock, it isn't completely cured no matter what the dealer tells you. It needs time to get rid of massive die-off, which results in ammonia spikes.

It takes time. Keep your protein skimmer running and it'll take care of itself over the next few weeks.

  5. First with salt you should not be running carbon being that it would totally be saturated within  a few hours, so nix the carbon.

Second, you switched to salt from a fres water cycled tank,  that doesn't mean it is cycled as well.  It will be a few weeks.  Keep testing.  Ammonia let it run its course give it a while once the spikes are done, the cycle is done
