  1. Check for spark and fuel delivery... it may not be the right PCM or it could be a bad one

  2. Pretty sure on a 99 olds you will have to have the PCM flash programmed at a dealer.  If I'm wrong then you have to pull the chip out of your old PCM and put it into the new PCM you installed.  If the chip is not removable, then my first thought is correct.  I'm almost positive on a 99 it will have to be flashed.

The only reason I question wheter the chip is removable, is because we just did this on an olds 88 and the chip was transferable, but, and this is a big but, the 88 we did this on was 1996, and although the cars are d**n near interchangeable, the PCM would be one of the exceptions if there are any.

As far as info on a PCM and BCM, what is it you want to know?  The PCM is basically your engine's brain, and the BCM is the brain for most everything else, like security system, keyless entry, cruise control, etc, etc etc.

  3. If it has a security system that reads the key, you'll have to take it to the dealer or another reputable shop to have the key programmed to the PCM.

  4. No kidding.

The PCM is VIN number specific.

You vehicle's VATS system (basically, anti-theft system) does not recognize the computer you installed.

Go to a stealership and get it done right.

Well, you have no choice...you have to do it that way!
