  1. Using a blinker only signals your intentions to other drivers, it

doesn't give you the right of way.  You can't change lanes until

traffic is clear.  Keep your attention on your driving.

  2. Using your turn signals does not give you the rightaway, they only indicate where you intend to go. So yeah, you should get a ticket.

  3. Were you involved in the accident?  By that I mean were there any damages your car?

The outcome will be dependent on the circumstances.

    1. If you indicated, did not look in your blind spot and the back end of your car hit her car-  you will have to pay for damages.  The police will also be able to charge you with an offence.

    2. If there was no contact between the cars, and she had an accident by trying to avoid your car-  she may be able to sue for damages and personal injury/anguish, but a police charge is unlikely.  Even if they decided to pursue a charge, you would have the opportunity to fight it and it would be difficult for them to prove that her accident is your fault.

  4. I GUESS THE ROAD WAS NOT CLEAR. YOU ARE AT FAULT,....UNSAFE LANE CHANGE,    DID YOU CROSS THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE,....FAILED TO YEILD TO UNCOMING TRAFFIC. BE CAREFULL ON THIS ISSUE. YOU MAY WANT TO CALL A ALWYER, TO FIND OUT WHERE YOU STAND ON THIS ONE

  5. ucantcme is right.............you never have the right of way unless someone GIVES it to you.....

Blinkers aren't good enough......you also have to check over your shoulder to make sure no one is in your blind spot and do that BEFORE you begin to make your lane change. It takes only a second.....it's a very good habit to develop because then you will ALWAYS do it and once in a while, something will surprise you, but you won't hit it BECAUSE YOU LOOKED.

We all have to take care of each other out on the roadways. It could have been YOU who got cut off because someone may have only signalled and then made a lane change in front of YOU.

Let her file the police report, and see what develops from there.

  6. Uhh...she really has no proof. But how do you know she is going to? Did the cops call you, or did she like "pull you over" somehow??

  7. Let her file the report, it just might wind up protecting you in the long run but still if you change lanes and used your blinkers you are still responsible for looking to make sure that it is all clear...

  8. It sounds like you are at fault for not making sure the lane was clear for the lane change. The signal is only to show the intent to change lanes and does not mean everyone has to get out of your way.
