I connect my lap top to t.v via vag lead, picture ok sound from lap top not tv /dvd etc. why? how/

bought lead to connect lap top to tv cos some of my dvd wont play on dvd player/cinama suround sound etc but can only get sound from lap top not tv/dvd .

  1. The VGA lead only carries video signals. To get sound to come from the tv you must connect the Line Out, or headphone, socket of the laptop to the audio in sockets of the tv set.

    Get a 3.5mm mini-jack to Phono adaptor lead from a decent shop like Maplin Electronics. Plug the jack plug into the computer (this will mute the computer's loudspeakers) and the the red & white phono plugs into the respective red/white audio IN sockets on the television.
