I connect my modem to my pc with a usb cable, why i cannot connect it with ethernet?

Question

when i connect with ethernet , i cannot surf the net(states "this page cannot be displayed")

while a usb cable does....

pls fix this problem

Check the connection setup for the Ethernet connection.

Make sure that you are selected to obtain your IP address and your DNS servers automatically

Make sure the USB cable is unplugged. Most modems will only do USB or Ethernet. Not both and never at the same time
