  1. first find the title to the car. then go to your local tax office and

ask for  the forms needed to transfer the vehicle. have the new owner pay taxes, registration, and sign the forms.

he then takes all the paperwork to the county for transferring.

  2. The exact answers depend on the state you live in.  In my state of Washington, there are a couple of important steps.

The title document contains a line that you and the buyer sign when you are transferring the title (that is, selling the car).  The seller then has to send a tear-off part of that form to the state so the state knows the sale has happened.  If the seller doesn't, and the buyer (for instance) abandons the car, the car is still the seller's responsibility.

As for insurance, you are responsible for calling your insurance company and telling them you have sold the car.  That means you will stop paying for insurance on it, and the new owner is responsible for his/her own insurance.  Like with the title, you don't want to leave yourself liable for bad actions by the other person.

Ask locally for exactly how you need to make this happen because it varies from place to place.

    Good luck.

  3. First, you sign the title over to them.
