The Frenchman reiterated that he could be on his way back to Old Trafford, considering his undying love for the club, although nothing was certain at the moment.
Manchester United and the love affair between Eric Cantona could be rekindled in the near future if the former striker is to be believed.
The one-time French star departed the club in 1998 after hanging up his boots, but his consistent involvement with off-field ventures has kept him in close contact with everyone at the Theatre of Dreams.
Now currently employed as the Director of Football at New York Cosmos, Cantona has sufficient experience at the executive level to play an influential role in Manchester, if he decides to rejoin his beloved United that is.
Although a managerial role would also be an option, the player claimed it was unlikely that the hot seat would be vacant anytime soon, as in his opinion, Sir Alex Ferguson was still incredibly young at heart and still had a couple of good years ahead of
him.
Fergie has masterminded the Reds’ rise to the pinnacle of English football and with another great team in the mix; the tactician could get his hands on more silverware this term and perhaps elevate the club’s standard to the next level.
However, Cantona reaffirmed that if the side ever came calling for his services, he would not hesitate in answering their call, such was his desire to return to English football, in particular Manchester.
“I would say, ‘United is special, of course I would do it’. Today I’m with the New York Cosmos. But if one day there is an opportunity, why not? Like diving from here to the sea, watching, speaking to the fish, octopus, crabs, journalists. I just need to
express myself whatever I do, I just need to find something to express myself. Today it is acting, tomorrow it could be something else.”
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson is young, has so much energy, so much love of the game, so many things to give, more and more and more,” the Cosmos official was quoted as saying whilst talking to the media.
