I could not say no to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186, says new signing Steven Defour – Portuguese Primeira Liga News
Belgian star Steven Defour claims that he could never rejected a move to Portuguese giants, FC Porto, when the club came knocking for his signature earlier in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old recently completed a €6m switch to Estadio do Dragao and claimed that once the Portistas came in with a proposal, he was never going to think of joining another side.
Speaking to the reporters, Steven Defour claimed that once he had been notified that Porto were trying to sign him, he only desired a move to Porto,
“When you are approached to play for FC Porto, you cannot say no to them.”
Defour also lavished praise on his new team and said that the Dragons had proved their undoubted qualities in not only the league but Europe as well, making them one of the best sides in his eyes.
“They are a great team, as demonstrated last season, when they won the league and a European title.”
While opportunities at the helm are likely to be limited given the already talented squad, Defour was keen to reiterate that he would do his utmost to please http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitor-c36281 Pereira and earn a place in the highly competitive squad with skillful play on the wings.
"I am a winger and I like playing near the lines. I hope to play as much as possible and help FC Porto to continue to win titles.”
Signing from the Belgian league, the midfielder is just one the new arrivals at Porto and now joins the recently-acquired Mangala at the club. But the centre-back is likely to be accommodated in more games than Defour, who will face stiff competition for
a berth in the team from the likes of Fredy Guarin and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436.
However, given that the Portuguese champions have a hectic schedule in the 2011/2012 campaign, the Red Devils International could be relied on as an impact player in difficult games and will be given ample time to prove his worth to the club, for whom he
was delighted to sign for.
