Well I'm 16 years old and I am a self harmer...lately I have had control over it and have only been doing it when I felt like I really needed it. But now all of a sudden I've lost control and for the past two days I haven't been able to stop =[

I have cut my arm and my hand like 42 times in the past 2 days....I normally do 6 a month or every two weeks or whenever...but never 42...

Help please??? How do I stop?

  1. keep your hands very busy, and distract them.

    that's a physical way

but you should really deal with the mental aspects behind the self harm.

try cooking, painting, knitting, writting, typing, tapping to beats. playing with your hair, anything that you like or any hobbies you have. its really simple and you'd be surprised how easy you can be distracted.

i wish you all the best.

  2. Please do not even listen to the negative comments.

I too have been a self harmer and i no what its like.

People that dont have experience with your situation and dont know how you feel have no sympathy and do you know what, its okay, dont let them get to you. Those people dont matter. It is in no way a cry for attention, it's away that some have found to deal with agonizing pain inside.I have never been to therapy or taking any medications and I am a much happier person today than i was even 4 months ago.

You really need someone to talk to, such as a mentor. I never liked talking about my situation before and when i did, it was a huge relief.just talking didnt fix everything right of the bat,but it helps the process a lot better. It took me a long time to recover and get where i am today. I my self have a mentor- an old boss of mine, that has always been there and supported me and mostly never judged me!

I hope you are able to find someone like i did.

If you do need that person i would be more than happy to talk with you!!

    just email- blonkat20@yahoo.com

    :))

  3. This is a problem that can't be solved via. online message boards.

You need to seek professional help. It can be scary because you don't want other people to know you have this problem, but professional help is the best way to do this. You can't battle this problem on your own.

There are many counseling sources available to you. Look online and get some counseling.

  4. Talking about it seems to suggest attention-seeking.  I had a youth which was full of self-doubt, but never cut myself.  Are you intending to kill yourself, cut yourself and bleed to death?  You only need to make one cut if that is so.

I hope you find a peace within yourself.  Eventually.  Can you imagine doing this to yourself when you are 70?  So why do it now?

Get yourself up the hospital, see the sick kids trying to fight-off cancer, with all the tubes in their chests, who are desperate to get out and live a healthy happy life.  And stop wallowing in your own navel-gazing self-pity, because all the good cards haven't come your way.

Most of us don't get all Aces and Kings, but we play what we have, as best we can.

  5. d**n, i guess its just become a habbit like biting your nails, but this could be life threatening. Go see a doctor, or just tell your parents, they will help with it so you can stop, or you could try that thing where everytime you cut it, put a piece of chewing gum in your mouth.

so say if you did it 42 times, 42 pieces go in, you can take the pieces out if you havent cut yourself in FIVE hours, but when you start cutting again, the gum starts going back in, may sound stupid, but it makes you focus on cutting down, think of it as knowing the rules of the game and obeying them, or you lose over and over

    hope i helped :)

  6. Ok first of all you seem to be having a bit of a bad life at the moment

According to your previous questions you are borderline anorexic, you have insomnia, period problems, excruciating pain in your lower body

and now you ar cutting yourself. It seems to me that what you are actually suffering from is LACK OF ATTENTION. Your continual search to gain peoples sympathy is pathetic. If you make yourself more interesting and spend less time wallowing in self pity and feeding from peoples emotions you would become a better person.

As for any genuine mental problems you may have try a psychiatrist and not yahoo answers

OOPS sorry was I supposed to say ahhhh poor you?

There are people in this world who CANT EAT because they have no food. Get over yourself, lots of us have had bad lives. Your illnesses are self inflicted. While you are wasting the doctors time he could be seeing a genuine patient.

    Grow up

PS Love and rainbows to you too!!!

  7. Have you tried taking ecstasy? It might help.

  8. the first step to recovering is to figure out what is causing you to feel like you need to cut yourself

also, u need to find some other way to relieve your anger/stress/sadness

i love to listen to my chemical romance's song, im not ok

it is loud, and it helps me to come to terms with watever is bugging me

if it is not getting better soon, then find someone to talk to

chat with them online, or on the phone, or face to face even if your confertable with that

it could be a complete stranger

if you want to talk with me, then i am more than willing, because i know waht it is like to learn to control that feeling, as i have done it as well

my email is docelynn15@cox.net, i will respond to any message u want to send to me

  9. i am a self harmer and i know what it is like to loose control for a while. i also know that self harm is not done for attention.

firstly, you need to speak to your councillor (i assume you have one as you are being treated for bulimia) and let them know that you don't feel in control. if you dont have one speak to your GP.

secondly, have you tried other techniques to replace cutting? there are a few listed below -

    1. get an ice cube and rub it against your skin on the area you usually cut..

    2. get an elastic band and ping it against you're wrist.

    3. draw on yourself with a red pen.

    4. write your feelings for needing to cut down on paper and cut it to shreds with scissors or burn it.

these can all help to relieve the tentions leading to you cutting.

please see your GP about this asap as they need to be made aware that the harm is getting worse. also please make sure you look after the cuts as you really dont want them to become infected (trust me!)

good luck and ignore all the people who are calling you an attention seeker, i know that youre not.

Whatever you do do not take pills, nor accept pills to stop self harming, to attempt to stop self harming because it will not take away the cause of the stress which causes you to cut yourself nor will it take away your pain.It will only hide it.

You are very likely neglected by your parents, abused by your peers,or simply broken hearted. You need to face your problems and not run away from them by cutting yourself.Cutting solves nothing.Only hides the consequences for you temporarily.

You need to speak to a psychologist that will help you release your psychological pain.Words are a trigger to release it.It will make you feel much better then cutting ever did.Speaking from personal experience.
