“I couldn't be happier for him,” San Francisco Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy says about Barry Zito
San Francisco Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy is praising his starter Barry Zito, who outplayed the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 5 of their seven-match post season National League Championship Series on Friday, October 19 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.
"I couldn't be happier for him, He had it all going. He put on quite a show," manager Bruce Bochy said after the game and showed great respect for Zito’s contribution.
Zito, in Friday’s game, showed his true class. He outperformed the Cardinals with his fast and curving pitches. Pitching 7.2 innings, he received six hits and did not allow any run. He struck-out six and remained consistent with his ERA.
"This is definitely it for me, Coming here, especially doing it in a Giants uniform. A lot of people were saying stuff about A's days. And for me, the most important thing is doing everything for San Francisco right now,” Zito said on his brilliant outing as Giants edged past the Cardinals with great focus.
Both teams played aggressive from start of the game, but Barry Zito proved to be the difference. He did not allow the Cardinals' batters to play him freely instead he kept them under pressure and won the game for the Giants.
On the other hand, his opposing pitcher Lance Lynn certainly disappointed his team. He did not play well and could pitch in right areas. He gave too many loose deliveries and was hammered with huge hits.
Lynn allowed four runs and four hits. He could have played much better but the Giants' upfront offence was too hot to handle.
"I don't mind him being aggressive if he's got the play, (Shortstop Pete) Kozma was in the right place; he just made a low throw. And to do it over again, I'm sure he'd like to take the easy out at first base," Mike Matheny said.
Now the series is more open with Cardinals leading 3-2, but at the same time Giants’ are also preparing ahead of the next clash on Sunday at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California.
