  1. Look i play volleyball and i really don't know what to say,i would say don't get nervous if you have a good serving than don't get nervous. If the coach is watching you just forget about him and serve how you know to,and you would show to him watch a good server you are!!!BYE!!!and good luck!!!

  2. hahahahah you don't even understand cracking under pressure!!!! i m a freshman and yesterday they had only 8 of us scrimage the sophmore A team and i missed almost every ball and got yelled at every play for doing something wrong!! I was especially upset since this morning was final cuts for the season and i made A team!!! you just got to show the coach that even though you mess up, you're willing to learn the proper technique and that you're not too hard on yourself and act confident!! don't give up whatever you do!!! attitude is the most important part of volleyball and that's what coaches look for!!!

good luck and youll do fine!

  3. give 100 percent the whole time. if they see you diving and talking with the other players they will like that. always call the ball and talk when you are receiving the serve. and about you serving, you know you can do it so just get focused and don't think of anything else except you serving that ball over the net. good luck!!

  4. first off, focus on each play individually, dont think about "what ifs", just live in the moment - you will need to do the same thing in actual game situations.  remember, the coach is on your side, he wants you to suceed, but for tryouts just tune him out.

as far as serving goes, aim a little bit higher than you think you need to get it over.  secondly, focus on placement more than power, hard serves are easier to pass than well placed or controlled floater serves.

hitting - dont worry about crushing the ball, there are many ways to get a kill.  tip just over the block, swing high so the ball grazes the top of the block and goes sailing, angle your swing so the ball rebounds off the block out of bounds.  if the set is really tight, dont be afraid to tap it off the block right back to your side of the net - then you or someone covering can hopefully set up for another attack.  also target hits to the usual defensive holes (short middle is always a safe bet)

for passing on the serve, stand ready with your knees bent and arms straight in front of you, not hanging at your side, it will decrease the reaction time needed.  try not to swing your arms and if at all possible, move your feet to get in front of the ball rather than swinging your arms.

when youre on defense, watch the ball until the setter sets on the other team. then watch the setters arms and keep your eyes open for the hitter's approaches.  after the set watch the hitters approach and arm swing, look at your blockers, try to move to cover any holes or adjust for angles not covered.

hope thats not too much info, good luck!

  5. i dont want this to sound mean.....but in a way it is good that he is putting pressure on you cause in the game you will have lots of pressure......so if you just concentrate on the ball and maybe aiming  higher you will do great!!!!

    good luck!

  6. I just had volleyball tryouts last week and I made it! I was really nervous as well but when you start playing the game, you forget all about your nerves and focus on what you have to do in your posistion. Don't think about the coaches...think about what you have to do to get the ball over the net. Having a good foot approach, a good toss, and a nice hard contact with the palm of your hand will help to make serve go over much easier and better.

As for hitting, there is a three step approach that I learned how to do at my high school. Start with your left foot and go left, righ, and then on the third step, land with both of your feet together. Then jump up with both hands in the air and take down your left hand (if you are right handed). If you are left handed, do vice versa. Your hands should follow your feet during this foot approach.

For passing, just get into a good ready position and have your platform ready! What I mean by a good ready position is if your hand can touch the floor without you having to bend down anymore. Then stick your hands out straight and be ready for the ball. But don't swing...just be there to give the ball a little nudge when it comes in contact with your arms.

These are a few tips that I learned when I started playing volleyball and they have really helped shape me into a better volleyball player! Turn your nerves into skill! You can do it! Good Luck at tryouts! Let me know if you make it or not!

  7. i would say just don't worry so much about hitting it as hard as you can just worry about getting it over. that will look much better than hitting it into the net. just no that u can do it and don't worry that the coaches are watching.

take a breath and serve like u no how.

  8. Aim Higher than you usually do or hit harder.

Even if your nervous youll get it over!

    Hope you make it!
