  1. You definitley should pay it....... your friend could sue you if you dont!

  2. Pay it , it is a costly lesson for you! You drove, you are responsible.

  3. It really depends, did she lend you permission to borrow the car, if she did she has to pay for it. If she was there with you during the crash you can both pitch in. But, besides she's your FRIEND so think about it. Just saying, if I was you I will pay for it and ask for a little money.

  4. hey you crashed the car  why should she be responsible for something you did  you sound pretty inconsiderate to me   you dont sound like a very good friend just pay the ticket you bum

  5. When you sat behind the wheel of that car, you assumed responsibility for it.  You can always fight the ticket, but I suggest you get a lawyer.  In the meantime, pay to have your friend's car fixed, and encourage her to get insurance before her car is impounded.  What she's doing is illegal.

P.S.- Are you saying you didn't know she wasn't insured?  If the ticket was for no insurance (and you didn't know she wasn't insured), perhaps you can split the bill.

  6. you crashed the car, you pay the consequences.

  7. OK, we need to clear up a couple of things here.

I've never heard of a $1400 ticket for driving without insurance, but I suppose it's possible. What exactly was the ticket for?

Or is the $1400 the amount of damage to the car you were driving or another car?

Some of the answers you are getting are forgetting one major point.

Legally, It is NOT your duty to put insurance on a car you don't own. As a matter of fact it is illegal to to put insurance on property you don't own. So in most jurisdictions the owner would get the no insurance ticket, not the driver. This is because a person borrowing a car from somebody has a reasonable right to believe/assume the car is insured.

However, if the $1400 is for the damages to you caused to somebody else's car then you are on the hook for that. You get stuck with that tab because it was your actions that caused the accident to happen.

This isn't as clear cut as some of the other answerers would have you believe. You need to confirm with the authorities in your specific area as to what the law is here. Ask for a copy of the law and read it carefully. I wouldn't just accept this ticket without more research and questions.

    Good Luck

  8. if u are driving it is your responsibility to make sure the vehicle is insured and registered. I know this from personal experiance. I lost my liscence for 3 yrs because of it. But u can go to court and explain the situation u might get a little break. But someone has to be held responsible

Mine was my own sisters brand new car and i had no idea it wasnt insured

  9. Absolutely you pay the ticket regardless of the amount! Don't let an accident, which you were responsible for or not, and a mere $1,400 stand in the way of your friendship.

  10. the old saying that if you wreck it you bought it is true, you should pay the ticket,if you was driving that legally makes you responsible, good luck

  11. this is how people end up in court

you messed up you should have to pay for the ticket and repairs

if you she didnt have insurence or had insurance but the car wasnt in your name really likley and you carsh it you have to pay the insurance

you should pay the ticket and the repairs

otherwise hire a attornie you may get out of the ticket but you will still have to pay for the repairs and attornie/court fees

    goodluck

  12. In Calfornia once you got behind the wheel you became responsible for your actions. When ever you drive a car you need to check the car for Insurance and Registration and make sure they are current and legal. She doesn't need Insurance if shes not driving.

If your in another state notify the DMV to see.

  13. Insurance has nothing to do with paying a ticket.

If I am speeding and get a ticket, my insurance company does not pay for it , I do.

Insurance covers property damage and such, not tickets for violations in driving.

So you should pay, if not you get to do the jail time.

  14. you were driving, I am assuming the ticket was for the crash or something you did before the crash such as speeding/running a stop sign. It seems like you are suggesting from your post that the 1400$ ticket is for lack of insurance on the car?If that is the case then you just learned a 1400$ adult lesson in responsibility.unfortunately/or fortunately depending on perspective, driving a car comes with a lot of responsibility/risk. If your friend had a lb of coke in the trunk and you were driving, then you would go to jail, unless she was able to admit it and talk the police into arresting her.as far as petitioning the ticket, it sort -of depends on what the ticket is for, car with no insurance, the crash itself, some other traffic offender? I'm also puzzled because here in the northeast US, the insurance is on the vehicle, not the driver. So, I word have thought that your friend would have pulled out the proof of insurance right on the spot.

  15. u should be the one paying for it!

  16. You are responsible, you should pay. That's unfortunately the way it is.

    Sorry, and good luck.

  17. You need to pay.  You drove and you crashed.  Think of it this way, if you did not drive the car would your friend be in this position?

  18. u were driving, ur responsible.    finito!!!!!!!
