Question:

I crave stuff like fast food and I want to get out of that habit?

I need to loose weight, a ton of weight. I'm on a new diet plan that my doc gave me, and I'm craving fast food even more. How can I keep the willpower to not eat fast food?

Is there any movies out there that will scare me out of eating fast food? How do I make the craveings go away? Thanks

  1. I agree, supersize me is a must watch, it scared me away from fast food.


  2. Do not forbid it completely. That will make you rave Fast food more. Let yourself indulge once a week.

    When you do indulge order a kid's meal only with a milk, fruit juice or water instead of soda and get the fruit option instead of the fries. This way you slowly kick the habit.

    Try eating items high in fiber that make you fill full longer.

    Allow yourself some free for all items (items that you can have as much of as you want). My favorites are baby carrots, sugar snap peas and steamed soybeans.

    Keep hydrated.

    Make a list of what you crave most. And figure out if it is Chewy, Crunchy, Salty, Sweet, Etc... Then make a list of Healthy alternatives in those categories. Substitute the unhealthy item in the same category with a healthy alternative. Almonds are great as a Salty/Crunchy item.

    Do not ban something completely. It only makes you want it more. Let yourself indulge once in a while. If you love chocolate, don't eat a candy bar or M&Ms, go to Godiva or a fancy Chocolate place and buy ONE truffle. Slowly savior that instead. The key to  anything is moderation. And it is easier to enjoy a small quantity of the good stuff versus a whole lot of so so stuff.

  4. I can't really answer this, because I love fast food. But, I think you might want to watch the dopcumentary/movie "Supersize Me" by Morgan Spurlock.

  5. I thought you knew about it already - no movies/ factual stuff about the crud that is in fast food.   Facts are always more scarier.

    Willpower not to eat fast food?  Change the deep fry fast food to natures fast food(fruit in season)  An apple a day will keep the doctor away has truth to it.  Also it fills you up and quenches your thirst.  Non fattening.  (well, if it is fattening, you got to eat alot of them which you won't naturally do)   And there is at least 2 dozen varieties of apples, each with a flavour slightly different than the other.    

       Same can be said for oranges, peaches, apricots, pears,plums, cherries.   Lots of fibre and nutrients and no fat.  Fat is the killer.

  6. I have made an effort to eat a better diet and I found that as I started to eat  healthier foods, my appetite for things such as fast food started to decrease.

    I found that the more fruits and vegetables I ate, the more my desire for them grew.  It is hard to change your way of eating.  Set realistic goals for yourself; instead of thinking I can't east fast food ever, set a goal of eating fast food once or twice a week.

    Try to keep healthy food available, that way you will not have to rely on fast food.

  7. eat a big breakfast with lots of high fiber food, I like the whole grain kashi bars, but oatmeal is great, also protien helps keep you full I make my own pickeled eggs mmm. it is important to a good diet that you eat allot of fruit & vegetable fiber. but dont totally deprive yourself treat yourself once a week if you deprive yourself your more likely to binge. to motive myself I borrow fitness mags from my library,i also joind the ymca & used their free fitness coach to develop a program, its been almost a month & i feel great.

    so as well as a movie to grose you out , you will find absolutely stuffing your face with high fiber delicious veggie recipies, will stave off temtation.

  8. Start with hamburger helper, it will set you on your way to becoming a better cook. Cooking at home is cheaper and yields you more food. I work at a restaurant, It costs 1.25 to make a sandwich that costs 6 or 7 dollars. You are paying for labor, rent, electricity, water and profit from the food. Be smart, cook at home unless you absolutely need to eat out.

  9. from someone who had there gallbladder out stay away from the fast food and greasy food they can cause you to have gallstones and it hurts like h**l let me put it like this if they wouldn't have took my gallbladder out i would have killed myself no joke i am serious that's how painful it is look it up gallbladder .

  10. Just start eating grilled chicken, vegetables, and munch on baby carrots if you have the urge to eat something. And you can see "Fast Food Nation" as well.

  11. I would watch either SuperSize Me or Fast Food Nation.

    A good way to curb those cravings is to bring healthy snacks with you throughout the day
